DOWNTOWN PHOENIX'S TALLEST RESIDENTIAL DEVELOPMENT TOPS OUTPosted: 01/27/07Suntec Concrete, Phoenix, topped out this week on The Summit at Copper Square, currently the tallest residential development in metro Phoenix, making it the first of the many planned contemporary high-rise living projects. The project is eight weeks ahead of schedule.
Setting 23 stories above the Phoenix skyline, the concrete structure of the 378-square-foot post-tension flat plate building was completed in eight and a half months. More than 17,000 cubic yards of concrete was used to construct the cast-in-place and EFIS shell. Suntec Concrete president Jerry Barnier said, "With the big architectural cantilever at the street arcade, the 32-ft. column heights and the "eyebrows" at levels 5 and 23-W Group really made a statement with this structure." Suntec is currently involved in more than 2 million square feet of the downtown Phoenix redevelopment efforts. W Developments LLC, Chicago, is developing the project with an expected completion date of August 31, 2007. Design and construction is being executed by Hirsch Associates LLC, Chicago; the general contractor is The Weitz Company, and Paul/Koehler Structural Engineers Inc., Scottsdale, is the structural engineer. Offering more than 160 residential loft-style units to the redevelopment area of Downtown Phoenix, The $54 million Summit at Copper Square is located at Jackson Street and 4th Street, directly adjacent to Chase Field. The development will also have 8500 sq. ft. of retail space, swimming pool and spa, sauna, exercise room, and 5 levels of parking. Established in 1984, Suntec Concrete Inc. is a commercial concrete construction company based in Phoenix, AZ. Suntec performs all aspects of commercial concrete construction, specializing in structural, tilt panel, flatwork and foundation construction.
